On September 14, 2021, the Garland City Council approved fee increases for several food establishment classes and for public and semi-public swimming pools. The increases are effective January 1, 2022 and are as follows:

Council approves new food establishment ordinance
On Nov. 19, 2019, the Garland City Council voted to amend Chapter 22 of the Garland Code of Ordinances. The major changes are as follows:
Any food establishment earning a score below 60 three times in an 18-month period may have their food permit permanently revoked.
An establishment that has had their permit permanently revoked cannot be sold to a relative, friend, or business partner for a period of 180 days.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, all food establishments shall post their last restaurant score at or near the entrance of the establishment in plain view of the public. Signs will be provided by the Garland Health Department.
