Geocaching is an outdoor adventure using GPS technology for a modern-day treasure hunt. To play, participants use a Geocaching app on a smartphone or a GPS device to navigate to cleverly hidden containers called geocaches.

Garland Cemetery Walking Tour Third Edition

The third edition of the Garland Cemetery Walking Tour will be at the Garland Mills Cemetery (at Centerville Rd. & Commerce St.).  This is a self guided tour.  Guidebooks may be picked up at the Garland Landmark Museums on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guidebooks lead you through significant headstones telling stories of people and headstone symbolism. 

Gravestone rubbing materials are available free at the museum.  Please ask the staff to get your supplies so you can participate in this fun activity during your tour.

    Lake Garland Park, located in what is now Central Park along Duck Creek, opened today in 1907 drawing over 6,000 people. The population of Garland was less than 1,000.

  2. Happy Birthday Garland Landmark Museum!

    On this day in 1974 the Garland Landmark Museum was dedicated. The museum's original location was behind City Hall at Museum Plaza. Currently, it is at Walnut and Sixth Streets in Heritage Crossing.

  2. New Garland High School dedicated today in 1936

    The new Garland High School, located at 310 S. Garland Ave. is dedicated today in 1936. The previous Garland High School was located on Ninth Street.
