Neighborhood planning seeks to partner with residents and accommodate change, while maintaining the character of Garland’s neighborhoods. Our current strategy focuses on improving the condition, attractiveness, and competitiveness of the homes and neighborhoods throughout the City by engaging with residents.
The Office of Neighborhood Vitality is the starting point for the neighborhood planning process. The Office focuses on building capacity in neighborhood organizations and strong leadership skills among the City’s residents, which are both crucial to the success of any neighborhood plan.
Residents can also get involved in improving their neighborhoods by updating and maintaining their own homes. The Idea Books are helpful tools that residents can use to get started.
